Welcome to Hedgehogs Class, Rabbits Class and Owls Class

Welcome to the fun and exciting world of Year 1, where we take all the wonderful skills that the children have learnt in Early Years Foundation Stage and develop them as they start to experience the National Curriculum.

 Year 1 promotes independence, responsibility and hard work.  Our aim is for the children to deepen their knowledge and understanding in a relaxed, exciting and engaging environment where we set them up to become enthusiastic, lifelong learners.  We make learning fun, using a range of different teaching styles to make sure that all children are able to access new concepts and succeed in their learning. 

 Year 1 is made up of three classes - Hedgehogs, Owls and Rabbits.  Please find links to our learning maps below where you can see all the exciting work that we will be covering each term.

Here is a list of iPad apps your child may use at school to support their learning.

Please note some of these iPad apps are paid and some are free. 

PE

We have PE sessions twice a week on Mondays and Fridays.  One session is with our TeamTheme coach and the second session is led by our class teacher.  

All children require a PE kit on their peg for them to change into.  This includes plain dark blue/black shorts or joggers, a plain white t-shirt and trainers/plimsolls.

The children will also have Forest School lessons throughout the year.
