Parent Involvement
Home-School Links
We welcome the interest and support of parents in all aspects of school life. We aim to keep parents well informed about their children’s education so that they see it as a partnership between home and school.
Parents are encouraged to keep in regular contact with their child’s class teacher and to ‘pop in’ for a quick word now and again at the end of school. Teachers will always be pleased to spare a few moments, unless they have other engagements.
Formal consultations with parents are arranged in the Autumn and Spring term when children’s progress is discussed. All children receive an end of year report from their teacher and produce their own review of the year.
If during the year parents want a longer discussion with their child’s teacher, an appointment with the teacher can be made. It is very important that you keep the school informed of any important changes that may affect your child. Please let us know promptly about any medical, physical or emotional difficulties of which you become aware.
Helping in School
We value any help which you can give at school, whether it be working with children in the classroom or helping ‘behind the scenes’. Any such help you give not only benefits the school in general, it also benefits your own child. It shows your child that you value the school, are part of the school community and are interested in what is happening. These positive feelings will rub off on your own child. If you would like to help at any time, either regularly or on an occasional basis, please contact your child’s teacher, or the head of school.
Role of the Parent
These responsibilities were devised by parents at St. Stephen’s Infant School. As parents and guardians of children attending St. Stephen’s Infant School we agree to uphold these responsibilities:
encourage and support my child with home learning
ensure my child arrives at school on time
ensure my child attends regularly and provide a note of explanation if my child is absent
inform the school by 9.00am if the child is not attending school that day
send my child into school in good health
support good behaviour and discipline within the school
make the school aware of any concerns or problems that may affect my child’s work or behaviour
participate in discussions concerning my child’s progress and attainment
Parent Forum
We have parent forum meetings once a term. They meet with the head of school and discus any concerns, ideas and share positive feedback .This is your chance to have your say in future developments of the school. Everyone is welcome to attend.
